Our pressroom was designed with two fundamental
concepts – reliability and flexibility. Our business objectives
are to make sure that our customers get what they order, delivered
on time, every time, without fail, and to offer our customers a
wide range of capabilities to meet their needs.
We “design in” reliability by having 44
units of the same Goss Community presses under
one roof. Any pressman can operate any press, maintenance and spare
parts are greatly simplified, and jobs can be moved from press line
to press line to meet deadlines. Our presses may not be the newest
or the fastest, but they are simple, rugged and reliable.
Flexibility is achieved by setting up our presses
in 4 press lines with 9 folders. One of the press lines is heatset;
the others are coldset. With this configuration, we can produce
a large variety of products ranging from simple 2 page broadsheets
to 250 page saddle stitched books. We can mix heatset and coldset,
and we can mix different paper stocks on the same product. On single
web work, we can run multiple jobs on the same press line simultaneously
to improve scheduling flexibility. Lastly, Tristar is truly outstanding
for highly versioned work. Need slightly different text for each
neighborhood or each target audience – no problem!
